Mike Marvins is a fourth generation photographer born and raised in Houston Texas. After forty years as a nationally and internationally known, award winning portrait photographer, author, and photo historian, Mike turned his talents to capturing the heart, soul and essence of the State of Texas with beautiful imagery. His photographs are in the permanent collections of, among others, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (26 prints), The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (24 Prints), The New Orleans Museum of Art, The Harry Ransom Center-University of Texas (28 Prints), The Fox Talbot Museum, Lacock and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Western Art, The International Hall of Fame and Museum, St Louis, The Cultural Center, Beijing (twice), The Museum of Natural Science, Houston's 48 Print Exhibit and The British House of Commons, London. Marvins’ photographs can be found in hundreds of private and corporate collections in Texas and the US. He is the author of the best selling coffee table books, Texas Big Bend; A Photographic Adventure and The Texas Hill Country; A Photographic Adventure. One hundred percent of Marvins’ book proceeds go directly to The Big Bend Conservancy and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Mike has been visiting and exploring in the Hill Country since he was a child. Mike and his wife, Mickey, divide their time between Houston and their home in Ingram, Texas.
